What changes every year when you renew

Health insurance and Medicare plans don't stay the same from one year to the next, even if you don't touch anything. Insurers can adjust premiums, change which doctors and pharmacies are in-network, and update which drugs are covered — and most of that happens automatically if you let your plan auto-renew without a second look.

A short review before renewal takes a few minutes and can catch a premium increase, a dropped doctor, or a plan that's no longer the best fit for your situation — often before you'd notice it on your own.

Common questions about renewing

Do I have to do anything to renew my plan?

Usually not — most plans renew automatically if you don't make a change. That's exactly why it's worth a quick check beforehand: automatic renewal means you keep whatever changes the insurer made, whether or not they still work for you.

When is the best time to review my plan before it renews?

Ideally a few weeks before your renewal or open enrollment date, so there's time to switch if a better option turns up. If you're not sure when that is, we can look it up for you.

Will this cost me anything?

No — the review is free, and there's no obligation to change anything. If your current plan is still the best fit, we'll tell you that.
